The College Prep Series is an important event in the young careers of high school juniors and seniors interested in pursuing either a major or minor in music at the college level. The program provides students the opportunity to participate in a "mock audition" in front of a panel of college professors from schools like Indiana University, Butler University, Ball State, IUPUI, Indiana State, Anderson University, Indianapolis University, Depauw, and more. It is also a recruiting event for the participating schools.
This Series includes piano, string, brass and woodwind instruments.
To register, students must submit a resume and repertoire list of important works that they have previously studied.
One the day of the event, students will perform two musical pieces of contrasting styles, take a theory and aural skills test similar to the entrance exams given by colleges and universities, as well as mingle, ask questions and collect brochures from the college professors representing each school.
